About
Pilgrimage
special thanks to ITAMAR SELA Photography
The title of the exhibition has a double meaning: in an abstract sense is refers to a personal religious experience and in the context of the installation, it relates to the process the viewers creates his/her own personal experience by walking through the installation.
With each new step on their path within the installation the visitor sets in motion a series of large size revolving screens. As the visitor proceeds the exhibition reveals a set of photographic images that map a personal experience.
The different rhythms & speed of each viewer creates a slightly different combination of the exhibited images that are mounted on two sides of a three sided screen which insures that each person’s immersive viewing experience is unique and personal and cannot be repeated in the exact same way again.
User Scenario
enter the photo exhibition of 14 large screens mounted on two sides of a triangle shaped base showing sets of photographic images of a man and a woman in prayer. As the visitors passes in front of the installation, sensors embedded in the floor mat trigger the mounted images to turn. The speed of motion of the viewer influences the speed of rotation and the combination of images as the line up next to each other subsequently creating an individual viewing experience for each visitor.
This installation talks about body motion in relation to personal faith. If the viewer will walk one way he/she will view each frame of a body moving in relation to its faith. One side is a Jewish religious prayer and the other side of photographs are frames of a Catholic prayer.
The religious concept is only a statement to show how visually interesting is a body in motion when related to its own soul faith,
The walk through is meant to make the viewer observe each motion no mater what religious context. To discover the body expressions that each culture has and how special can human faith and believes be when you see how the body moves in relation to how it feeds his own soul.
